Sustainability is the core value of Expo Milano 2015.
Beyond the statement of this value, this Universal Exposition is engaged in making itself sustainable.
As a matter of fact, the respect of the standards of sustainability has been applied also to the event itself through some actions to be effected for the entire lifecycle of the event, to prevent, mitigate and compensate the possible negative effects on the environment.

The carbon footprint measures the impact of all human activities, as well as those one originated by human actions, on the production of carbon dioxide, the most responsible gas for climate change.
The calculation of the carbon footprint includes the measurement of the greenhouse gases emitted along the entire lifecycle of a product from the raw material extraction to the final disposal.

Expo 2015, with its motto “Feeding the Planet, Energy for the life’, wants to raise awareness about two key issues: climate change and food safety.
Climate change and food safety are tightly interconnected.
