THE CONTEST
The Italian Ministry of the Environment, Land and Sea and Expo 2015 Spa have launched the contest ‘Towards a Sustainable Expo’ directed to all the Participants as well as to all the other Companies and Organizations, taking part to Expo Milan 2015.
Which is the purpose of this contest? To reduce to the least one their environmental impact during the Expo.
Why participate? To become Players of the change and to compete to the nomination of Leaders as those who distinguish themselves in contributing to the real construction of a sustainable future.
The most effective and innovative solutions will become legacy for the future and the driving force for future initiatives.
The key theme of the Expo, whose motto is ‘Feeding The Planete, Energy for Life’, is the sustainability in food production.
But an improvement in environmental situation can also be reached through other small gestures with a great value.
The contest has selected 4 categories of intervention:
– the sustainable architecture of Self-Built Pavilions and exhibition areas;
– sustainability of food offered by catering and food services;
– sustainability of furniture, packaging, merchandising of the organization and of events outside the Exposition Site;
– other initiatives, for instance the carbon footprint calculation, the carbon offsetting, the promotion of innovative initiatives for recycling, the use of products fair trade etc…
The Jury will be composed by national and international experts.
More over, an icon of the contest and a plate-totem will be delivered to the Players and the Leaders to value their commitment for sustainability.
The program avails itself of the scientific collaboration of the Politecnico of Milan and of the IEFE of Bocconi University.
